Tarina Tarantino Sugar Skulls
New colors have been introduced in the much popular Tarina Tarantino Sugar Skulls collection, which is inspired by the Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead). Day of the Dead is a holiday celebrated by Mexicans that focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. Sugar skulls, or calaveras are one of the many offerings. The intent is to encourage visits by the parted souls, so that the souls will hear the prayers and the comments of the living directed to them. Celebrations can take a humorous tone, as celebrants remember funny events and anecdotes about the departed.
This celebration is as much about life as it is about death. Tarina Tarantino beautifully weaves both of these elements into her Sugar Skulls collection, in that each piece prominently features a lucite skull, which is then surrounded by vibrantly carved resin flowers and crystals. Tarina Tarantino mixes dark somber colors with bright, festive ones; sinister skulls with pretty flowers - showing that life and death were very much intertwined.
The Tarina Tarantino Sugar Skulls collection includes beautiful cameo rings starting from only $30.00, and offered in a multitude of colors.
